Dixon Unified School District Has Selected Preferred Candidate For Superintendent
School Board President Julian Cuevas announced to the DUSD Team the following:
“Good morning, DUSD Team
First and foremost, I hope this finds you all well! On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank you for all the hard work and incredible dedication you bring to our schools every day. You are the soul of our district, and we appreciate you. We are proud to announce today that we have selected our preferred candidate for Superintendent of Dixon Unified School District. Brett Barley is a former 4th grade Teacher in San José, was the Superintendent at Wonderful College Prep Academy in Delano, and is currently the Superintendent at the California Montessori Project in Sacramento.
In addition to his administrative and classroom experience, Mr. Barley has a background in both education policy and public advocacy, including as Deputy State Superintendent for the Nevada Department of Education. His experience along with a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, makes Mr. Barley highly qualified and the candidate who most closely meets the characteristics and attributes in the superintendent profile that you all helped develop.
Mr. Barley will be formally appointed at the next school board meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The full press release (in both English and Spanish) are attached and the full text can be found below.
We look forward to you all meeting him, and we look forward to welcoming his wife and 2 sons into our Dixon community soon!”
